How to Play

Everything you need to know

The Goal

Work together with internet strangers to count from 1 all the way to 1000. Sounds easy? It's not. One wrong number and everything resets to zero.

Rules

  1. 01 Players take turns entering consecutive numbers, starting from 1.
  2. 02 Each number must be exactly one more than the previous one.
  3. 03 You can't post two numbers in a row — someone else has to go between yours.
  4. 04 If anyone enters a wrong number or invalid format — the count resets to 0.
  5. 05 At least 3 players are needed in a room to start counting.
  6. 06 Reach 1000 and you win. Simple as that.

Variants

Not all counting is created equal. Each variant uses a different number system.

Ternary

Base 3

Digits 0–2. An unusual challenge.

1, 2, 10, 11, 12 … 1101001

Octal

Base 8

Digits 0–7. Familiar enough to be dangerous.

1, 2, 3 … 7, 10, 11 … 1750

Roman

Numerals

Ancient Rome style. The hardest variant.

I, II, III, IV, V … CMXCIX, M
